I've been doing code generation recently, using <a href="http://xdoclet.sourceforge.net/">xDoclet</a>, building classes which contain type factory methods and field maps for domain classes. It now occurs to me that partial classes would be a much neater solution keeping the generated code within the domain class (avoiding a proliferation of types, or possibly type access issues), but without polluting the hand written code or risking overwriting anything. Neat, I'd like to see this in a future version of Java.<br> </p> http://matt.blogs.it/entries/00002099.html Atom test-drive Sun, 25 Jul 2004 15:58:46 +0100 I was just chatting with <a href="http://bitsko.slc.ut.us/blog">Ken MacLeod</a> in <a href="irc://irc.freenode.org/#atom">#atom</a>, he was helping me with the <a href="http://bitworking.org/projects/atom/draft-ietf-atompub-protocol-01.html#rfc.section.1">Atom API</a>, and we got chatting about <a href="http://www.testdriven.com/">Test Driven Development</a> as well.&nbsp; I've gotten into this recently, prompted by <a href="http://www.docuverse.com/blog/donpark/EntryViewPage.aspx?guid=18ddad71-1958-4dca-afea-5c79d1d329b9">Don Park's recent experiences</a>.&nbsp; It's a bit of a mind wrench, frankly, but <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0131016490/qid=1090770623/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/202-3923111-5563868">TDD: A Practical Guide</a> by<a href="http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=+David+Astels&btnG=Google+Search"> David Astels</a> is a good introduction (although <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0321146530/103-4158677-4518203?v=glance">Kent Beck's book</a> is good for a general introduction & advocacy I find David's book better for actually teaching you how to do it, e.g. how to do TDD when writing GUI code and so on).&nbsp; Ken is far more knowledgable than me by the sounds of it and has a good deal more mental flexibility.
