Tim O'Reilly's Scone Recipe

I'm going to be moving into a new place at the end of February. The address is still to be determined (I just started looking today) but is likely to be somewhere near Maidenhead. That's something of a change since I have lived in London for more than 14 years now and to make it a more substantial change this will be the first place I will have to myself.

I last moved nearly 4 years ago and I have to say things have not improved. Prices are high (my rent will more than double), deposits are 6 weeks not 4, agents fees increase and they look for all kinds of ways to tack on charges (and of course they are charging the Landlord too). Also having two cats and wanting a place unfurnished does not seem to be a popular choice (I reckon I am eligible for less than 10% of what is on the market). But occasionally you meet a nice agent who can still make you smile anyway.

I have some small hope that in a month or so we will be settled into a new home that we can be comfortable in.

One of the things I am really looking forward to is having my own kitchen. I enjoy cooking but, with three cooks about, kitchen space is always in demand and, well, it's not my kitchen. I'm looking forward to making a big old mess and trying a lot of new recipes. Something I have never done before is baking so I shall be sure to try out Tim O'Reilly's Scone Recipe.

A Londoner no more

Well it's confirmed, I will no longer be living in London after March 6th and, in all likelyhood, a little way before that. I get the keys to my new place in Maidenhead next Friday and, all being well, will move in during the following week.

It's a 2.5 bed, end of terrace house in a quiet cul-de-sac on the outskirts of Maidenhead. Bonuses are a nice kitchen, a small garden, and it's only 5 minutes to my Dad's house and Graham's office, and best of all it's all mine! I'm really looking forward to it.

Tooting has been a nice enough place to live. I've no complaints. But it's never been somewhere I felt particularly strongly about living. Time for something new :-)
